Kato Yoshiaki began the construction of Matsuyama Castle in 1602.

It is one of the biggest castles in Japan, standing on a hill above a plain.

①Dogo Onsen Honkan

Dogo Onsen Honkan symbolizes the renowned Dogo Onsen, Japan’s oldest hot spring. It holds the esteemed honor of receiving three stars from the Michelin Green Guide Japan and the distinction of being the first public bathhouse in Japan to be designated as a National Important Cultural Property.
②Dogo Onsen Annex Asuka-no-Yu

Asuka-no-yu adopts the architectural style of the Asuka period. Following the theme of “Dogo of the Ancient Times,” it showcases legends and stories associated with Dogo Onsen through a fusion of Ehime’s traditional crafts and contemporary art in its collections.
③Yuzuki Castle Ruins (Dogo Park)

Yuzuki Castle served as the political, military, and cultural hub of the Iyo Province until the conclusion of the Middle Ages.
④The Shiki Museum

The Shiki Museum is dedicated to the life and works of Masaoka Shiki, a renowned haiku poet from Matsuyama City. It presents Shiki’s biography and the literary history of Matsuyama in a clear and accessible manner.
⑤Ishiteji Temple

Ishiteji Temple, the 51st stop on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage, has earned a prestigious star in the Michelin Guide. Its Niomon Gate, constructed in 1318, holds the distinction of being designated as a national treasure.
